Arsenic and Old Lace
By Joseph Kesselring
November 1-10, 2019
One of the craziest madcap-screwball comedies ever!!! This show is a classic that everyone needs to see. Set in Brooklyn in 1941, the play centers on the two sweet elderly Brewster sisters who are famous in their neighborhood for their charity; unfortunately, however, their charity includes poisoning lonely old men who come to their home looking for lodging. They are assisted by their mentally challenged nephew who believes he is Teddy Roosevelt and frequently blasts his bugle and yells “charge” as he bounds up the stairs. Matters get complicated when their second nephew, Mortimer (a drama critic) discovers the murders and a third nephew appears after recently escaping a mental institution. Through all its mayhem, this play is true comedy at its best and will be enjoyed by audiences ages 10 and up.
